"The Washougal River Road is one of the great accessible roads near Portland. Better to drive it on a weekday morning if you can since on hot, summer weekends the road is littered with folks parking to enjoy the river. Be sure to go past Salmon Falls Road --- your return to Highway 14 if you need to get back more quickly --- and go to the end of the road to see some truly beautiful scenery (and appreciate a bunch more twists.) There is some rough road out there but it is not that bad and it is well marked. "
